Genetic Testing Results

I'm happy to report that my genetic testing results came back negative!!

more info here if you are interested in reading about the BRCA 1 & BRCA 2 gene mutation.

This is really good for me to know because if you have one of the mutations your at a very high risk for developing ovarian or breast cancer in your lifetime. Since i already had breast cancer i did it mostly because of the ovarian and wanted to know if i had a high chance of getting that which is a hard cancer to detect at the early stages.

This is also good for relatives to know that i did not get my breast cancer from these gene mutations that are usually hereditary.

update:

this was kinda freaky..didn't know i had 1 in 10 chance of being positive. I new i had a risk of being postive by being diagnosed with bc under 40 but 1 in 10..lucky break here!

I am so happy for you and your family!!! There is so much responsibility that comes with being the first in the family to be tested and then getting a + result. Its so great that you have been spared that :-)
