Hypocrisy at its finest
We all know what hypocrisy means. But reading the definition and not just seeing the word gives it more credibility.
Hypocrisy (or being a hypocrite) is the act of opposing or not purporting a belief or behavior while holding the same beliefs or behaviors at the same time, or vice versa.
Over at The Frame Problem I read a post called 'So, I was expelled from the pro-expelled blog". Another good read on the topic is here.
I love this deleting comments shit, its crazy, and it has happened to me.
A blogger that I personally know writes a post entitled Evolution or Creation? So, I figured that I can give my two cents. Nope. Comment taken down. NOT Fair. (my favorite saying by the way, have been using it since i was 3). Why did you ask? It should have been titled Evolution or Creation: only creationists are allowed to comment.
How can someone who is writing a post about the movie Expelled, which is talking about how they feel their freedom of speech is being stifled can turn around and do the same exact thing that they are complaining about?
Easy, its their blog and they can do what they want, even if it is completely dishonest.
Here is my take on it. The person doing the deleting of the comments they don't agree with do not want to look like an ass. They feel that the comment is making them look wrong, really wrong and stupid. Who wants that? They just want to leave the comments up that agree with them. I would never do this. If you don't want anyone to disagree with you, why do you have a blog? Why have a comments section? At least have a disclaimer that states. Please only comment if you agree with me. Why would you want to only be around, talk to, share ideas with only those who agree with you? What is the fun in that? How can you ever learn anything that way?
Unbelievable.

How can you learn anything that way? Well, in dogmatist camps such as Creationist circles the effective definition of "learning" seems to be "finding new ways to justify my current beliefs". It's all semantics!

You asked, "Why would you want to only be around, talk to, share ideas with only those who agree with you?"
I agree that the conversation wouldn't be very fun and would be even less interesting. It would be very useful, however, for reinforcing beliefs to which one is clinging desperately.
